Jake Dobkin on social networks…

Date December 27, 2007 by alex

I think he’s summed it up really nicely with this tweet. The networks that ultimately see success are those that can provide value to empower the community towards new social interactions and new types of information rather than just amplifying everyone’s individual voice.

The reason social networks don’t deliver on their basic promise is that no one wants a friend who just talks about himself all the time.

Good point, I think that actually points to a fundamental problem not just with social networks, but even more with friendships in general. I guess it’s no surprise people talk about themselves on their websites…

What else could it possibly be?
