Micah’s 29th Birthday: Scorpion Bowl edition
September 3, 2007 by alex
This past Saturday, Karen and I went out to Long Island to celebrate Kota’s First Birthday and then came back to meet Micah and others at the Gowanus Yacht Club for Micah’s 29th birthday.
We showed up around 7:30 with Matt and Freya. After sitting down, we tried our best to order some beer but were met with the usual casual indifference that has become a staple of the place. After about 15 minutes we got our first pitcher and the night was underway…
Micah got a couple of presents on the big day…

Who doesn’t need an Ironweed-like glove to be a better beer pong player? No one, that’s who.

These “drinking” glasses would end up playing a large part in the evening for a lot of people.
After a few hours at Gowanus, we made what turned out to be the key decision of the night, to head to The Zombie Hut, the land of great backyards and drinks that are as dangerous as they are fruity.

Drinking glasses make you do things like this. Extra points for Sara’s look on the left.

One of our “friends” must have seen other people enjoying these bowls of booze and decided that our group should not be left out.

The SCs come with really long straws so that you can all easily partake from a distance. Micah, having gotten comfortable with his new specs, decided to try and fuse these two drinking apparati (?) together to form…

A giant, seeing and drinking disco straw! (TOAD: Sept. 1, 2007)

Again, “someone” wanted to see if we, as a group, could do away with 1 scorpion bowl in one giant sip.

By the end of the night everyone tried on those glasses. Karen even tried to get the guy with real glasses to wear our super glasses.

By the time this happened, Karen and I decided to head down Smith Street piggy-back style, in search for an open pizzeria. Sadly we came home empty handed thought once we got home, Karen whipped up some PB+Js to send us to bed with our stomachs full.
All in all it was a great night (that turned into a painful Sunday). Happy Birthday Micah!

Alex,
You are a cheater.
I hypothesized that Pictobrowser might lower search engine ranking, but I ultimately decided that content is ultimately more important so I decided to use it.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the universe, most notably on Team Kane Street, you ended up posting photos in photo-essay style against your own suggestion.
