We’re back from Maine!

After about 1000 miles in the Pilot, traveling practically to the US border with Canada, Karen, Sasha (on her first vacation) and I are back home in Brooklyn. It was such a great, relaxing week off. So great that I’m finding it hard getting back into the swing of things right away. I guess that’s what Tuesdays are for.
Here are some quick highlights to wet your whistle and entice you to check out the entire set.

We decided to head out on Friday night (post traffic) in order to cut into the 9+ hour drive a bit.

During the week we ate many a lobster roll though I think this one (in Portland) was the most delicious.

Sasha does silly things when she’s trapped in the car for hours on end.

Successfully cooked 4 cheeseburgers and beans on the campsite firepit.

This reminds me of the scenes in horror flicks when the unsuspecting protagonist glances back in a mirror and sees…

Acadia’s the only National Park I’ve ever been to. Note to self: check out more National Parks.

I had never seen this drink before and I’m not sure if its a regional thing but if you see it, give it a shot. It’s delicious. My first sip was as special as my first sip of VitaminWater Dragonfruit years ago, if that’s any indication of how awesome it is.

We had some of the famous Jordan Pond House popovers.

And Sash stole an oyster cracker.

Managed to get a group photo at the top of Cadillac Mountain.

One of many lobsters that met their demise over the course of the week.

After Karen initially expressed concern tht we wouldn’t eat enough ice cream over vacation, we proceeded to get some 7 out of the 8 days we were gone.

This is the lake (Pleasant Lake) I spent summers on as a camper and counselor. Our friend Bill’s parents have a cabin on the very same lake, which is where we stayed for the week. Thanks Bill and his parents!

The cabin was right on the lake.

Where Sasha really got to flex her Pointer skills.

I even got to bring Karen and Sash to the old Camp Powhatan (currently called Seeds of Peace)

It was super cold all week and Karen didn’t want to go swimming so she fired up the kayak instead. (That’s her coming back to the dock)

To cut the drive up a bit on the way back we hopped a ferry from New London to Orient Point and then spent the night with the B’s in Holbrook before heading back to Brooklyn Saturday afternoon.
