Red Hook Music Session
August 11, 2007 by alex
TOAD: August 4th, 2007: A few weekends ago, Gabe invited us to go see his band, Monuments, perform at an event called The Echo Sessions. The setup was as follows: it takes place in a loft-like studio space in Red Hook where the band performs in the main room. The audio is being recorded and played through an amp in a soundproof stairwell and subsequently recorded, creating a really interesting sound. This was the second session they’ve had. You can catch some audio and video from the first here. Monuments’ should be up soon.
It was a nice night out, if not a little warm. The crowd relaxed for a while up on the roof before the show started.
Downstairs, Lily and Carin (who did not coordinate their outfits) were tending bar.
And collected tippies.
Can you see everyone glistening with sweat? I was hotter than it looks.
Check out all the photos here.
