You hate to say “must win”, but…

The Yankees have dug themselves quite a hole and need to start showing that they’re not the team we’ve seen over the first 2 months of the season. They managed to win 1 against the Mets over the weekend and honestly, a sweep in this series is really the only thing that would be enough of a step forward to get excited about. That being said, onto the predictions:
Wang vs. Wakefield
Yanks need to not fall victim to the knuckleball as it could mess with their flow for the rest of the series.
Yanks win 8-4 (think positive!)
Mussina vs. Tavarez
Yanks win 5-3
Pettitte vs. Schilling
Great matchup (again) and sadly I think Pettitte pitches well enough to lose (again)
Sox win 4-2

This is sort of unprecedented for Sox fans. To hear Ortiz’ comments today saying he’s not worried about the Yankees, and actually believing it - bizarre.
I do think things will regulate, but not in a series sweep. I agree w/ Alex, the yanks will be relentless and take two out of three:
Wang/Wake: Wake is coming back down to earth, Wang will be shaky too though. Close one, dragging out slowly. 6-5 Yanks
Tavarez/Moose: I think this is our surpise game. Moose still doesn’t look solid past 5 innings, and Tavarez can sneak up on you. If he gets out of his customary bases loaded w/ one out jams, he holds on and pitches solid again like his last outing. 7-2 Sox
Schilling/Petittte: Schilling can’t get an out inside the warning track. He’ll get pummelled (though i’ll still start him on my fantasy team anyway, b/c i’m a moron) and petitte will give a solid 7 innings. 6-2 Yanks

sigh… to risk hubris or not? I know the yanks are playing better than their record indictates. by my count they should have won an extra 4-5 games.
Wang/Wake. i think we hammer Wang. sox 10-2
Tavarez/Moose. don’t get me wrong, i like my pitchers to be porn stars, but i also like mike mussina. yanks 7-2
Schilling/Pettitte. haven’t really dug schill this year, but pettitle looked awful against us last time. sox 6-3

sucks to lose two out of three (9.5 games up or not), but DAMN my predictions were spot on…
i even started schilling on my fantasy team like i said i would!
wonder if this will energize the yanks, just glad we didn’t get swept…
