We are not meant to go to Yankee Stadium

TOAD: April 25th, 2007: Karen and I were supposed to head to Yankee Stadium last night to see the Yanks take on the Blue Jays. This was particularly exciting since we were going to get to see Andy Pettitte back in pinstripes. For the second time this year our best intentions were foiled, this time by the weather. Luckily for us, we spent some time sitting on the stoop of Karen’s office building waiting it out and learned of the postponement before we made the trek up to the Bronx. With a free evening in front of us, we decided to go grab a bite to eat at another Batali outpost, Po. The food was excellent - we had clams and mussels in a red sauce to start, karen had linguini with clams and I had a roasted guinea hen (which was very duck-like). For dessert, we went with the affogato (above) which was excellent - coffee gelato with chilled cappucino and chocolate sauce. All in all, it was a great meal (and far more enjoyable than sitting in the rain at Yankee Stadium).
If you care about baseball, read on… As a result of the rainout, Andy Pettitte can now pitch against the Red Sox in a key weekend series, which is also great news. Also, tonight marks the pitching debut of the crown jewel of the Yankee farm system (as well as the best pitching prospect in the major leagues), Philip Hughes. This is the first homegrown pitcher we’ve had to get excited about since Andy Pettitte back in the mid 90s so if you can get to a TV after 7, go check him out.
