This game was not meant to be

TOAD: April 7th, 2007: On Friday Karen, Gabe, Carin and I were supposed to head up to Yankee Stadium and catch some early season baseball between the Yankees and the Orioles. I love getting up to the Stadium early in the year but the weather this season has taken some of the luster off the first few weeks (the Cleveland Indians are now playing some of their “home” games in Milwaukee).
From the moment I arrived at work I didn’t feel right. I felt weak and slightly nauseous. With memories of The Great Stomach Flu of ‘06 dancing in my head, I inexplicably decided to eat some sushi and shrimp for lunch in an effort to “pad” my stomach and get through it in preparation for that night’s game. Unfortunately it was not meant to be, the feeling got worse and after spending about an hour laying on the floor in our office, I went home. I also got in touch with Gabe and Carin and let them know that I wouldn’t be making the trek up to Yankee Stadium, left with only these 4 tickets and the memory of a sub par game that I would end up watching on TV, rather than in the Bronx amidst snow flurries (snow in mid April! come on!).
Oddly enough, the brief stomach flu turned into a normal head cold less than 12 hours later that would lay me up for a few days. At least I can get the illness out of my system before we actually get some Spring weather.
