The best bodega in Park Slope

TOAD: January 3rd, 2007: Behold… La Dolce Vite, local bodega extraordinaire (it was actually named Best Bodega in The Daily Slope’s Best Of Park Slope feature).
I hit this place up every morning around 7am with Sasha on the way to Prospect Park for a $1 cup of sometimes unpredictable, mostly ok cup of coffee (if Karen’s joining us, we go with 1 large and 1 small coffee with skim milk). This particular photo was taken at that time and I’ve found can often be a time with some really nice sky lighting.
Every day, I tie Sash up outside the same way and she watches me intently as I prepare the coffees myself, as though she’s making sure I don’t somehow leave the store through the back without taking her with me. I love that I can go to the cooler in the back and grab a carton of milk and open it up myself if the previous patron kicked the last one. I enjoy that there’s always a New York Post to the right of the door that I can grab, flip over and see the front and back pages of the paper on my way out the door in an effort to get a quick glimpse of the daily tabloid zeitgeist before I set off for the Park with Sash.
Each of these taken individually is nothing special, but there’s something extremely comforting to me when all together they make up my daily routine.
