an O-H-I-O wedding

This weekend Alex and I headed to Ohio for Kristen and Mark’s wedding reception. They got married a month ago in NYC but decided to have their reception near Kristen’s home town.
The weekend started Friday afternoon when I left work around four to catch a cab to meet Alex uptown. I hailed no fewer than four cabs that laughed at me for attempting to find a cab on a summer Friday to LaGuardia. Finally, the cleanest, most pleasant cab picked me up and we zipped uptown while listening to classical music, to grab Alex on 40th street before hightailing it to LaGuardia.
We landed in Akron-Kanton airport, picked up our rental car: a Dodge Stratus! and drove to Wadsworth, where Julie (my roommate from college), Mike (her husband), Andrew (their son) and Jackson (their dog) live. We feasted on Applebees as we waited for Julie to come meet us on her way home from the first wedding of her weekend. Mike decided to stay at the wedding and booze it up on Captain and Seven. He was in no shape the next day for more wedding drinks.
Saturday afternoon we all headed up North to the Avalon Inn where the reception was talking place. The wedding was lovely and fun. Kristen and Mark looked so nice and seemed to have a great time. I got to see lots of college friends I have not seen in a long time, though I somehow have very few pictures of everyone.

Sunday we headed back to NYC with Lindsey and Tim. On our way to boarding the plane we saw Miguel from Top Chef! I had already given myself away recognizing him so I said hi, which is when I noticed he was also with Leanne and Andrea from Top Chef! At the Akron Aiprort?! So I went full-on stalker and told them how much we loved the show, then we continued to run into them on the plane, throughout Laguardia and on the cab line.
